History
St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Grodno, Belarus, began as a Jesuit church in the Baroque style. It was consecrated to St. Francis Xavier in 1705, and became a parish church when the monastery was dissolved in 1773. Closed for public worship in 1960, it was granted the title of minor basilica in 1990 and became the cathedral of the new Diocese of Grodno a year later.
